Dauphin County Arrest History
A Dauphin County arrest may be made by Harrisburg, Lower Paxton, Derry Township, another municipal department, Pennsylvania State Police, Capitol Police, or a campus agency. The creating department owns the incident or arrest narrative. Dauphin County Prison creates a separate booking and custody record. An MDJ adds the preliminary docket and bail ruling. These records are related, but they are not interchangeable. An incident report describes the event. A booking entry documents intake and custody. A court docket shows the judicial response. PATCH assembles qualifying statewide repository history. Differences in wording or timing can reflect the stage being described rather than an error.
Four Dauphin Arrest Records
One Dauphin County arrest can produce four trails. The police file may include allegations, location, evidence, and witnesses, subject to disclosure limits. The prison record centers on admission, authority to hold, charge and bail data, housing at a safe public level, and release. The MDJ docket adds preliminary arraignment and hearing events. PSP uses fingerprint-linked submissions and later court dispositions to maintain the statewide record.

Looking Up Dauphin County Arrests
No verified countywide arrest blotter exists. Start with the official Dauphin County Prison Inmate Look Up for present county custody. Then trace the arrest through the creating agency and the court. Use PSP only when the question calls for a statewide repository check or review of your own history.
- Use the prison's Inmate Look Up for current county custody. If it fails, call 717-780-6800 because release or indexing time may explain the result.
- Identify the arresting department and request its incident or arrest report. Supply the event date, place, and incident number when known.
- Search the UJS Web Portal at the MDJ level, then at Common Pleas if charges are held for court.
- Use PATCH for the standard Pennsylvania repository check. For your own fuller record, mail PSP's SP 4-170 Access and Review request.
- Use the correct written request form when online sources fail. County administrative records go to the Office of Open Records, police files go to their creator, and DA records use the designated law-enforcement form.

Dauphin Booking at Mall Road
Dauphin County Prison, rather than the Sheriff's courthouse office, is the central county custody source. The facility is at 501 Mall Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111, and its main phone is 717-780-6800. Intake confirms identity and legal authority to confine, inventories property, captures fingerprints and a photograph, screens health and safety needs, and begins housing classification. The MDJ then addresses preliminary arraignment and bail without unnecessary delay.

The precise fields depend on whether the source is police, prison, or court. The prison vendor's full live labels were not available in the official indexed material, so no unverified search field should be assumed. The combined public arrest trail may contain the following items when the responsible agency lawfully releases them.

Dauphin Arrest Agency Routes
There is no universal Sheriff records desk for all Dauphin County police reports. Request the narrative from its creator. Harrisburg Police Records Center is at 123 Walnut Street, second floor, with 717-255-3191 and 717-255-3197 published for records. Lower Paxton Police is at 425 Prince Street, lower level, Harrisburg, and lists 717-657-5656 through its township RTKL page. Derry Township Police is at 620 Clearwater Road, Hershey, with 717-533-2057 option 1 and a separate Act 22 route for audio or video.
Dauphin DA-created records and law-enforcement appeals use the designated county form and contact at 101 Market Street, second floor, Harrisburg, 717-780-6767. Failure to use the required form is a stated denial ground. County administrative requests may instead be emailed to openrecords@dauphincounty.gov or mailed to the Dauphin County Office of Open Records, P.O. Box 1295, Harrisburg, PA 17108.

Booking Logs and Recent Arrests
Dauphin County does not publish a verified, complete daily booking-photo gallery or countywide Sheriff arrest blotter. The prison's official Inmate Look Up is the route for current custody. Municipal departments may publish official CRIMEWATCH news or arrest releases, but those posts are episodic. They are not a full Dauphin County arrest database and remain allegations unless the court records an outcome.
A person absent from the county lookup may have been released, transferred, entered under a spelling variation, or not yet indexed. After a state transfer, use the PA DOC Inmate/Parolee Locator, which updates daily and excludes county prisoners. Search by last name, with first name optional, or use an inmate number as the alternate route.

Arrests Are Not Convictions
An arrest records a person's detention following an alleged offense. It does not prove guilt. Initial complaint counts may be withdrawn, dismissed at a preliminary hearing, changed in the Common Pleas information, resolved through ARD, tried to an acquittal, or end in conviction. Correcting a Dauphin Arrest Entry
When a dismissed arrest still appears, first identify which system shows it. Ask the police or prison about its own record. Check UJS for the final disposition. For your own fullest PSP record, use the mail-only SP 4-170 Access and Review process, which includes convictions and non-convictions. That review is the right base for a repository challenge or a Dauphin County expungement filing where the law allows relief.
Pennsylvania expungement and limited access are not the same. Expungement removes qualifying information under 18 Pa.C.S. § 9122, while limited access restricts public dissemination under § 9122.1. Even after a court grants relief, the Dauphin Clerk warns that removal across repositories may take up to 12 months. Keep the signed order and verify the result rather than assuming each system changed at once.
